Artist Statement
My work seeks to capture the beauty of improvisational movement. Created by combining an assemblage of wire characters, I bend, twist, shape, and balance them to eventually produce work that is both figurative and abstract. I am inspired by molecular models used in chemistry, the balance of fighting and playing within capoeira, and Afro-Diasporic narrative sculpture. My sculptures are best positioned in direct sunlight, where gleaming reflections and sharp shadows bring fourth added dimensions.
